VBS 2020 Update

Our church has been carefully weighing options about the potential for VBS this Summer. Many have already registered, and many families are in desperate need of some space from their kids and long for the fun and spiritual learning that define our program.

While we would love to have an in person VBS, we have determined that this year that is unfeasible. Our partners Triumph Sports have already cancelled all of their summer programming, and  based on the numbers from a survey of our congregation, we have come to the conclusion that we will not be able to have the critical mass of participants and volunteers necessary to have a legitimate program. We do believe in supporting the spiritual needs of our community so we are moving forward with a Virtual VBS that will be much lighter in scale, free, and will  be more accessible and enjoyable by more children (and adults).

Our plan is to offer a Vacation Bible School in different pieces over the course of the day for the week of July 9-13. Our content will be streamed on our church’s Facebook and Youtube Live. The recordings of which will be left on the page, so that everyone can participate at their convenience. We will be in contact with more specifics, and basically we plan to offer a Live streamed dance party in the morning, and a teaching video in the afternoon. This will be something kids can participate in on their own or if their parents/guardians/family want to be involved they can experience it together. Sharing VBS with these kids is one of the highlights of our year. It may be nice to allow families to share the miracle we know too.

Because this year’s VBS will be online, there will be no cost, but donations will be accepted and go towards our St. Aidan’s Children’s Ministry. For those who have already registered if you wish a refund please contact us. If we do not hear from you we will assume that you want your fee to serve as a donation to support our ongoing ministries at this difficult time.

Thank you for your prayers and your continued support of our Children’s Ministry, and especially our Vacation Bible School.

We know this is a hard time in the lives of families. Please know that our pastoral staff is here for you if you could use an ear or some resources to support your family. We have children’s programming available on our Church’s Facebook EVERYDAY. Email taylor@aidanschurch.org if you want to be on the list to receive updates on our expanding online children’s options and special content only available to those on that list.

Yours in Christ,

The Rev. Les Carpenter and Taylor Durr
